12/15/2008
By

Well I can’t say I’m surprised..

But its still nice to know that these ladies are getting some positive international recognition.

Ms. Kseniya Sukhinova is practically my neighbour since she come from the gritty industrial city of Tyumen.

I wish this young lady the best and I’m sure that her reign as Miss World 2008 will be a positive one.

    Lovely photos as usual, GL.

In the West, jealous women and closet gays would dismiss those women as “anorexic”. I think they are perfect. A ruler of thumb: if you can’t count the ribs, she’s not anorexic or bulimic.

  2. Kisha on 12/15/2008 at 9:19 am

I think she looked better with darker hair.
Centrist, in the most of the pictures you can see girls ribcages, it is not an eating disorder the girls are just plain underweight and and lack muscle bulk.
though you can be anorexic and have a BMI close to normal…so you will never know unless you see how she purges after every meal.
    Miss Mahachkala is the prettiest.

  3. rw_man on 12/15/2008 at 10:35 am

    Hi Kisha,

I agree with you with the hair..

However.. these girls are NOT underweight in my opinion. Their body types are the status quo in Russia for young ladies.

  4. Kisha on 12/15/2008 at 1:22 pm

Hi RW, but whats exactly wrong with their ribgages stickin’ out? They look a bit weird don’t you think? Makes them look starved.
I wouldn’t say its the status quo for Russian ladies, but rather for those Russian ladies who want modeling career.

  5. sam ogilvie on 12/15/2008 at 9:34 pm

I am no doctor, but with the exception of the winner, all these girls appear to be well-fed and healthy. Kseniya, in this particular photo, looks to be on the thin side.
I just got in from a late lunch at a local restaurant, and, honestly, the average girl there was 75 to 100 pounds overweight. Such extremes present a public health issue here in the States. Obviously, every female is not genetically capable of maintaining the glamourous slender image the media glorifies, but a healthy weight is within the grasp of most citizens in the wealthier countries of the world.
Interestingly, before I discovered this site, I thought most Russian women were grossly overweight, because every picture I saw depicted them that way.

  6. Bella on 12/15/2008 at 11:16 pm

I am the same body weight. It can be natural. I think we should get out of thinking that overweight people are the norm and if anyone isn’t overweight they must be starving themselves.

  7. Taras on 12/16/2008 at 12:59 am

It’s one thing to be overweight, quite another to be be obese. I agree people need to stop regarding being overweight as the norm, but at the same time, it’s not good to be real thin without enough muscle mass too. I have to admit Mrs. Sukhinova has a very pretty face but she does look almost too thin to me. I’m not surprised she won however, and the other ladies pictured are lovely as well. All the best to Mrs. Sukhinova…….:-)

  8. Manoah on 12/16/2008 at 4:54 am

Has any one else notice the Ukrainians and Russians are both lovely but Ukrainians on the balance are bustier? I’ve been looking at all these photos that GLs been putting up and then I look at the Ukrainian gals and hmmm, either something in Ukrainian genes or food? I’m thinking must be all the cheese they eat. If that’s the case then Miss Mahachkala will just be perfect if she would just eat a little more cheese. hehe.

    Any inputs?

    -M

  9. Bella on 12/16/2008 at 8:39 pm

Haha, I wish it were as simple as cheese! I love cheese, but nothing I can do can make me bigger up top than the ladies here.

Maybe as I get older. My sister had to wait til she had a baby until she got any weight on her at all.

I think it must be genes. xxx

  10. Kisha on 12/16/2008 at 9:36 pm

Ukranians indeed rumored to be more gifted in this ahem…sphear.
Guess those features are more often spread between Ukranians and Poles and less often amoung Russians.
Thats how we make assumptions about people’s ancestry here.

Manoah, its not cheese its cabbage!Ukraine climate is more suitable for it.. hence the contestants.

  11. sam ogilvie on 12/16/2008 at 10:07 pm

    Bella,
If that’s your face in the upper right corner, you would be gorgeous at 80lbs. or 250lbs., so I wouldn’t worry about the rest of it. Kensiya was just voted one of the prettiest women in the world, and I wholeheartedly agree with the voters. Whether it’s genes, carrots or cabbage, she’s one beautiful woman.
I hope you can all join me here in N.C. one day. We’ll eat a few dozen Krispy Kreme doughnuts, wait and hour or two, and then go out for a 10 mile jog. :)

  12. wolverine on 12/17/2008 at 4:43 am

It’s kind of funny you mention cabbage. I had a Russian gf what I was teasing about all the coffee that she was drinking. I told her that it would shrink her ‘assets’. She laughed and said, ‘Do you know why mine are bigger than average?”
Wnating to hear this of course I said no idea.
She said. “Eating lots of cabbage as a girl made them so.”

I do however swear that she was addicted to drinking coffee. She drank about 5-7 cups a day that I saw. Plus tea, I must add. And she liked it strong.

My current GF is from latvia, and hardly drinks any coffee. She loves her tea though, and cabbage. :D

  13. georgieboy99 on 12/17/2008 at 7:47 am

    hi gl
    long time no speak!
    heres an idea.
maybe you could organise a miss russian women the real truth 2008 online pageant? i think each of us should get 3 votes as its obviously a very difficult choice.

    keep up the good work

    gb99

  14. Bella on 12/17/2008 at 9:50 am

Haha, no this isn’t my picture. I wish :]

I’m going to start wolfing down cabbage. Hopefully it still works if you’re 23!

    Good idea GB99.

  15. sam ogilvie on 12/17/2008 at 12:49 pm

Thanks for the good spirit, and humor, Bella, Manoah,Wolverine and Kisha. Good idea, georgieboy99.
Keep wolfing down the cabbage, and avoiding coffee, Bella. :) But don’t despair. The women my age tell me that gravity and time are not kind to such assets, and, besides, they just get in the way of a good jog or walk.

  16. marisa on 12/17/2008 at 8:57 pm

Hey, I am new to this blog and I find it very interesting. I come from a family with Russian mom and American dad, so naturally I agree about Russian women being excellent. However, I just wanted to post briefly, because I have seen so many posts about feminists, and I worry that some of you are overlooking the sect of feminists that are neither anti-male or anti-female. Myself and others applaud beauty in women (as opposed to jealousy) because beauty is a form of artwork to be enjoyed and also often indicates a healthier lifestyle than the junk food-couch potato lifestyle that shortens people’s lives, but I also extend this to men. I think true feminism encourages women choosing where their importance lies (be it career and/or family) and that the happiness of men and that of women are NOT inversely proportional if the battle is cast aside. Please do not think all feminists are mean and ugly as many are filled with love, beauty, and compassion for all.

  17. Manoah on 12/18/2008 at 1:37 am

“they just get in the way of a good jog or walk.” Not from a man’s perspective they don’t. We enjoy good jiggles (like in Baywatch).

Cabbage, who would have thought. I’ve tasted all three and to me at least the texture and consistency between cheese and mammary gland is certainly closer than say cabbage.

“My sister had to wait til she had a baby until she got any weight on her at all.” Methinks hormones (estrogen?) may also play a primary factor here. And its reputed that soy products have estrogen like substances. So, Bella, you may want to try Soy also, but I would want to make sure its the non-GMO kind.

You’re right Wolverine, Coffee does have a deleterious effect. I had a friend, real pretty. Anyhow, she likes to drink coffee for the caffeine to keep her awake. I told her she should try to get a good night’s sleep instead; but she didn’t listen. After several years, her looks changed quite a bit. Once beautiful, she has lost it. Sucks. But oh well. For the wise, let them hear…

    Manoah,
I was speed walking on a tight, curvy track on a hot, summer night several years ago, leaning hard left into a banked S, when a large asset from the opposing lane swung wide and smacked me square in the face. Being a North Carolina gentleman, I, of course, was not looking for any jiggles or anything, and was clipping along lost in thought. The lady stopped, and in heavily accented English apologized profusely. Looking back, I now realize she had to be Ukrainian, not Russian, and she had certainly eaten lots of cabbage, and suffered the deleterious effects of gravity. No harm was done, but I would have just as soon had passed a nice Ukrainian girl with chest closer to my own.:)

  19. Manoah on 12/18/2008 at 3:50 pm

    That’s funny Sam,
Love comes to those who least expect it.. haha.

Meanwhile, I think I may have eaten one too many Egg Rolls… (looking down my shirt). They’re loaded with cabbages!! Oh no.

Coffee isn’t a poison like those awful diet drinks, which are about as good for you as a tall cool glass of antifreeze. Too much of anything can cause problems though, even things such as water and oxygen can kill you if you get too much of them in the right circumstances. However, long term sleep deprivation is most definitely harmful to your health. I’ve been down that road when I was married to my wife, and it took a toll upon me. Namely the extreme stress and lack of sleep have helped to give me hypertension. Now I have to keep watch on my blood pressure for the rest of my life to avoid a heart attack or stroke.

    Taras

  21. Manoah on 12/20/2008 at 9:17 pm

    You’re right Taras,
Coffee actually has anti-oxidants that are good for the body. And you make a fine point. Its actually the sleep deprivation that causes the harm to the body. Its just that our culture is such that people would rather force themselves awake with caffeine than get a good night’s sleep. It seems to me people undervalue sleep.

“Namely the extreme stress and lack of sleep have helped to give me hypertension. Now I have to keep watch on my blood pressure for the rest of my life to avoid a heart attack or stroke.”

I would think now you’ll be better able to get a good night’s sleep that would restore your health. As for hypertension, does not diet also play a large role here. There are a good many antioxidants in fruits and juices that can reverse atherosclerosis – namely Acai and Mangosteen. You may want to look into how good diets can cure some of these ills. There’s lots of good books out there that deal with the subject. I get alot our of reading such books and I know it has made a vast improvement in my energy level and well being. Wish you better health.

  22. Taras on 12/20/2008 at 9:58 pm

Thanks Manoah. A lot of factors can induce permanent and severe hypertension, including causes such as stings from venomous animals, radiation poisoning, injury to the brain, as well as your genetics, diet, exercise or lack thereof along with your mode of living and personality. There is no one cause for it. I have mine in check now because I first removed myself from the situation that caused it, and now I’m on medication to keep it below the threshold where it can be a hazard. I do a lot of physical work and I do help myself to fresh fruit too. Apparently, if your diastole is above 120, it’s considered to be a cause for concern, above 140 means you have full blown hypertension. As for coffee, I love a good cup of coffee, but I do not drink too much because I would not be able to sleep. I think most people have hypertension because they’re in very stressful situations, and stress kills people.

Hello! You must understand in the States, men here can be vulgar and violent as well. It is not all men or all women here. You’ll see bitterness in both genders and obesity. It sadly is America’s fault. No Gender. I have never needed feminism and never practiced, but I have a hard time with men who are fickle, distant and not wanting love as well. So it really is an American Mental disorder. It must stem from our lack of development in these issues and not dealing with them correctly. I know Russian women eat differently and have healither diets. The USA isn’t completely unhealthy as it is said to be. You can go to Utah and find women who are similar to Russian women and who live very long, but then again America is crazy so you may go to another state where they are all obese. You have amazing fashion taste and a feminine spirit in Russia, which I enjoy. We do have many mixed genes which would explain why we do not obviously all have the Russian physical appearance. Probably due to be ‘The Melting Pot’ of the world. England is said to have the same problem I suppose. I am enjoying your site. Much of the thinness obviously comes from genes here.
