It’s Time to Plan Your Trip Now

04/02/2008
By

Gentlemen,

Unless you want to wait another year or more to roll around until you finally travel to Russia or the FSU..

Then NOW is the time for you to get your affairs in order to take the big jump.

Spring has come early and the weather is perfect right now for your excursion.

Travel season is upon us and the window of opportunity for suitable weather is from now till the end of September.

The girls here are very happy to start their seasonal change of clothes away from all of their layers of winter ware.  So the happy parade of jeans and mini-skirts are already out in the open.

And believe me you do not want to miss one of the greatest wonders in the world and not see these women at their peak level of beauty, sexiness, and enthusiasm.

They are certainly proud of it.

And if you are able to pay us a visit and see this for yourself..

Then you will be too.

    GL,
Thanks for another splendid picture of my girlfriend, Mascha. The lighting is extraordinary! Oh, you did tell the guys that she’s taken, didn’t you?

  2. James on 04/03/2008 at 12:39 am

Thanks for the heads up GL. Indeed, most of us must plan well in advance. I wish at this time I was ready. But perhaps another year is best for the current climate. :)

I’m reminded of a few words in an old country western tune.

She’s so kissable, Huggable, lovable, unbeleivable. She’s anything and everything a man could want.

You go Mascha! Are you sure you want to get married in that chuch? Personally I’d like to get married outside in a garden or on the beach but I guess I’ll let you decide.
I do! I do! I do! May I kiss the Bride?

I guess I got a little carried away. I’ll try not to let it happen again. Hold me down boys!

Hey RW man, How’s ya gettin on me old trout?

I don’t think any of us want to wait another twenty four hours never mind another year but patients is a virtue. Some of these guys probibly can’t afford to wait and I hope they don’t. As for me I’d love to be married before I turn thirty. (But) I want to be ready to give my sweet heart the support she needs in adjusting to a new culture. As a real estate invester I could be with her around the clock at least for the first year. I don’t want her to be lonely. It’s bad enough she has to be away from her family.

Anyways from a newfie to you skipper… Long may your big jib draw.

    Greetings RW Man,

Thank you for reminding me what a Lady looks like.

    Happy Spring!

  6. Manoah on 04/03/2008 at 9:37 am

    Masha,

My compliments – Beautiful golden hair, fair complexion, a dignified persona, good contrast between the blue jacket and denim against the white church backdrop. Excellent angle and composition GL. Nice sunny day too.

Alas, how do I get myself over there…. Hehe.

  7. Manoah on 04/03/2008 at 9:38 am

    Atlichna!

  8. Jacque LeMoose on 04/03/2008 at 10:34 am

My compliments and happiness at your good fortune RW as well as the grace and beauty your lend to your pages. Congradulations to Mascha for her positive attitude and wonderful nature. ;)

  9. Hero on 04/03/2008 at 5:42 pm

I will visit Russia (and some other countries in the FSU) before I die-that’s a promise.

  10. Atlantic on 04/03/2008 at 6:10 pm

    Hero,

Unless you plan on passing away soon that sounds like a pretty long time but at least you’ll die with a smile on your face. To your health and long life buddy! I hope you can spend it with a great traditional Russian woman. God bless.

Who is Mascha waiting for on the steps of the church?

  12. WK on 04/03/2008 at 8:09 pm

    There is a God.

  13. Manoah on 04/03/2008 at 8:29 pm

“Who is Mascha waiting for on the steps of the church?”

For GL – to take her photo.

  14. Manoah on 04/03/2008 at 8:31 pm

    “There is a God.”

And God said after he created Adam – I could do better. Voila!

“I will visit Russia (and some other countries in the FSU) before I die-that’s a promise.”

And I promise you you’ll not regret it. I promise you’ll be leaving a changed man, a younger man, a happier man. And I promise you’ll be asking yourself, why in the world didn’t you visit sooner. And I promise you’ll be asking yourself why didn’t you study Russian in high school instead of Spanish or French or German.

Hey, it’s never too late to start a course in Russian. May I recommend Pimsleur, for an excellent start?

  17. SunnyInSanDiego on 04/03/2008 at 10:38 pm

I personally bought Rosetta Stone. The whole enchilada 1-3. I’ve just got through the first unit of the first disk and am enjoying the way that they introduce you to the language. It’s all Russian that you see, hear and write so it’s immersive. The bad part is that it requires a computer so you can’t listen to it in your radio in your car.

Too bad I won’t be able to make it over there for now, I’ve definately made it a high priority though.

  18. Taras on 04/03/2008 at 10:44 pm

What a lovely picture of Mascha, it made my day….:-) If any of you see the sort of women I see everywhere in Alabama, you’ll understand why.

  19. Fritz on 04/04/2008 at 6:02 am

I’m a 65 y.o. retiree. Could you give me a ballpark stab at how long I CAN live there, and how long I MUST live there to find and win an adorable 35 to 49 y.o.(approximately) widow or divorcee?? I did at one time, when dinosaurs still walked, write for a living. I Am Serious. I’ve been all over western Europe (before the accursed Euro.) It’s late and I’m rambling, but you get the idea. (N.B. all spelling and grammar is correct.)

  20. Mick on 04/04/2008 at 12:00 pm

Question: Who is Mascha waiting for on the steps of the church?

Answer: “For GL – to take her photo.” :) (compliments of Manoah)

One of my greatest fears is that I will one day marry a woman who takes the wind from my sails. I want to believe that life has purpose even if we are waiting to complete a thought.

  23. Richard on 04/04/2008 at 6:26 pm

    Fritz,

I am also looking a tad beyond the beautiful twenty somethings we see pictured here. The “wow” factor doesn’t hurt, though.

I’m 55 and a semi-retired photographer/writer (which usually just means can’t get the gig I want) who is also interested in that slightly older demographic. I wonder how many more of us are in the same chronological position.

It seems that there must be a significant number of available women to meet who are older than 25, and if situations and conditions hold throughout that region there should be some hope for us as well.

    GL,

Can you shed some light on this for us? I know that you have mentioned before the age discrepancies not being as much of a concern but there is still a certain comfort factor which I think comes into play here. Have you met unmarried women in that 30 to 45 range or is someone like that off your radar?

I am raising an eight year old as a single dad and I wonder about meeting single moms as well as someone who has no children or has never been married. It is well within my scope to have more children if that opportunity should present itself but it is not an issue either way.

Thanks for your thoughts and suggestions everyone.

  24. Taras on 04/05/2008 at 5:25 pm

I would have studied Russian in high school had it been taught there. Unfortunately, there isn’t large communities of Russian-Americans, let alone Ukrainian-Americans in the South, so Russian is not a language taught in local schools when I was growing up.

I am planning to back to Moscow (or other city?) in September…

  26. Mick on 04/06/2008 at 3:08 pm

Is Mascha waiting on the Lord?

  27. wonderlander on 04/06/2008 at 11:29 pm

    And do hurry up, Gentlemen!

In July-August the majority of women would be off on vacation. You too? OK, then think the Crimea. Lots of hotels and resorts are reviving its tourist industry. You can explore impressive attractions of nature and history, as well as fish for Russian and Ukrainian young single companies, pairs of women-buddies, and divorced mothers, among the crowd of married families. )

Richard, your chances to meet and be welcome are growing as you move up the women’s age scale within your brackets. See this post: http://russianwomenspeak.wordpress.com/2008/03/10/ukrainian-demographic-statistics-comparable-to-russian/

You’ll do great good to these reverable generations. So many of the ladies are divorced yet believing in family happiness. They have passed a great school of survival, but many retain traditional values like those of Inessa’s family. Doc Tamara often meets them on her network.

The Soviet Union has not been all Marxism, atheism and planned economy. There was also a special sort of peope, painfully and lightsomely conscientious. “Being a good man is what matters most” – a motto from our mothers’ time.

    Sincerely,
    Comrade Natalia

    Richard;
These older ladies are there and can be found, but it seems less so as they do not feel a part of the dating scene at that age.
Different sites have the different demographics, in my experience. If you wish to write direct, I know two I can can suggest that have all age and life circumstances you may wish.

    Richard:

Mathematically, your chances to meet and be welcome are growing as you move up the women’s age scale within your brackets. Consider the demographics and divorce rate.

Psychologically, many have grown disappointed in men and/or comfortable in self-sufficiency: “why bear someone doing this, and this, and this to spoil your life”.

A great part, though, still believe in family happiness. The “clock ticking faster” makes them more tolerant. But not only this.

The Soviet Union has not been all Marxism, atheism and planned economy. There was also a special sort of peope, painfully and lightsomely conscientious. “Being a good man is what matters most” – a motto from our mothers’ time. Doc Tamara often meets them on her network.

You’ll do great good to these reverable generations. They have passed a great school of survival, but many retain traditional values like those of Inessa’s family.

The problem is, women over 40 are less technological and more entrenched (in routine, in familiar environment, as well as in their apprehension of available mates and ways to meet them) to go foreign.

But where is a will, there is a way.

    Sincerely,
    Comrade Natalia

guys, best of luck in your search.

remember, you need to take action, not just read a blog and look at pictures. get over there!

why are you wishing your lives away?

  31. Fritz on 04/15/2008 at 1:57 am

    TWIMC,

I have just started a research project on true cost of living in the FSU. I have just posted the query on comrade Nat’s site, so here it is for your site. How many USD’s do you need to GET BY in the FSU? How many to live comfortably (not luxuriously.) Please state where your experience was gained (i.e. Siberia, Vladivostok, Moscow…) I know how much it takes to live like a king.

  32. rw_man on 04/15/2008 at 8:25 am

    Hi Fritz,

I don’t know about your situation but are you able to collect enough of a pension or retirement to make the move and just live in this part of the world? If you are then I would try to find a lady who has her own modest home and start something with her if you can.

I’m sure you could do this in almost any city but again the best way to start this is by establishing any type of contacts or social network through people who can help you.

Make sure you also factor in the Winters on where you make your choice too.

    Good Luck to you.. GL

Trip is getting planned and forming up (with a little help) for August. :) Any and all future savings beyond that is going towards trip #2 & 3 next year.

I’m already working my way through the Rosetta Stone Disks as well. I’m doing good on the nouns, items, colors, “things.” The verbs, plurals, and tenses are killing me though.

    SiSD,

Glad to see you’re taking the plunge. One tip I’ll offer – bring along a Rus-Eng Eng-Rus pocket dictionary you can carry along. It may come in handy.

  35. SunnyInSanDiego on 05/07/2008 at 4:41 am

    Manoah,

I’m plunging myself into Rosetta Stone now trying to pick up on everything I can before I go. Im hopefully going to be able to understand basic Russian by then. I’ve been told to find a good transfer service through Sheremetyevo International Airport due to the confusion of it’s layout, so I’m researching that. I’m crossing my fingers that it goes smoothly. The dictionary does seem like a great idea though, you can’t know everything.
I have gained another mentor in this who also made the following suggestion, get 2-4 Visa or Mastercards for your trip. Set up PIN numbers for cash on all of them and use them while you’re there. Get more than one just in case one doesn’t work. Call ahead of time and tell the companies where you will be and when you will be there. If any bad charges show up on them at least you’ll have the ability to dispute the charges. Don’t use an ATM cards at all, use the CC’s so you can at least keep your bank accounts safe. When he was over for a visit one time one of his cards didn’t work and he was lucky that he had his back up card ready to go. He also said to HAVE FUN :) and agreed that if you go, you will come back forever changed.

Well I’m leaving in 3 days, and will arrive in Siberia in 5 days. It been quite a long adventure in getting this trip put together but all the pieces fit together and I am on my way! I think I hit the tail end of summer but the first signs of autumn are showing so it must be cooling a bit.

I’ve spent a lot of resources on this trip and I can only think of one thing to do once I get back… start planning another one :)
